Batterer’s Intervention Program (B.I.P.) is a 26-week mandatory court-ordered program. It is a counseling program established for people who physically, emotionally, and sexually abuse their partners, therefore dealing with the offender and their offense(s). It uses group counseling sessions to teach the abuser how to identify their violent behaviors and prevent behaviors associated with domestic violence from being repeated again.
The classes are facilitated by a licensed counselor and provide education, accountability, and guidance on how to motivate change, recognize triggers, learn to respond instead of reacting, and put an end to violent, controlling, and threatening behaviors.
